A selection of maths games for use in the classroom or at home. All games can be played with most age groups with a bit of modification if needed.

Game Learning Outcomes Aim
Number Target Multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, teamwork, communication. Using playing cards students form groups that equal a specific number using the given processes (+ - x /)
Complete Me (Decimals) Decimals, fractions, addition. Fill in the whole shape by shading a specified fraction of it. The winner is person who shades the final segment and creates a whole.

Multiplication Auction Multiplication, chance and data, strategies. To bid for numbers rolled on the dice that form the highest multiplication sum in the class (7x4, 8x5, 10x10).
Place Value Knockout Place value, teamwork, strategies, chance and data. To create the largest 4 digit number than any other team by rolling a dice and deciding where to place the numeral.
Card Yahtzee Chance and data, teamwork, communication. To form a group of 5 students, with the strongest card hand of 5 cards.
Quiz Master Challenge Communication, Revision, Cementing previously learnt information. Students create their own questions and challenge other students with them while trying to answer the students' questions.
Counter Swap Counting on, basic addition, basic subtraction, communication. A simple addition and subtraction game to teach early years students how to add and subtract to reach a specific number.
Lucky Number
Counting on, basic addition, basic subtraction, mental processing. A basic addition and subtraction game to teach early yeasr students to think about what numbers they need to add or subtract to reach a specific number.
Hit The Jack

Addition, chance and data, probability. An addition game using two or three digit numbers, where students have to decide which numbers to add together to get as close to the 'jack' (target number) as possible.
Heads and Tails Probability, chance and data. This quick game is a great introduction to probability, the teacher flips two coins and students need to decide which combination of heads and tails will land face up.
Angle Mangle

Names of angles, how different angles can make up one shape, teamwork, communication. A group game where students have to create a shape using string which incorporates specific types of angles as instructed by the teacher such as obtuse, acute, right and reflex angles.
Squiggle

Learning directional language including left, right, up, down, north, south, east and west,
communicating directions and teamwork.
One person closes their eyes and is directed by another person to draw a line from one spot to another without hitting any obstacles.
